2-year-old accordion booklet

Our little Rowan turns 2 this month, and I can't believe it. During the early days, I could have sworn he would stay a no-sleep-through-the-night, co-dependent, snuggly infant forever. Magically, he has morphed into a happy, chatty, independent, strong-willed, oh-so-lovely, little curly-haired personality.

I think because I have worked in publishing for so long, I always want to turn memories into little books (see Family Flash Card book). Having pictures saved on my iPhone, is just not enough. I made this little accordion book to send to grandparents who can't be here to celebrate his second year.

It was a pretty simple project. First, I printed out some of my favorite photos on 8 1/2 x 11 card stock. I trimmed and taped them together. Then, folded them to create an accordion booklet.  I think this will be a nice thing to do every year.

  1. That is a really cute idea. You might even be able to have the kids help with the project, maybe choosing the pictures. I love that you sent it to his grandparents. It's a great idea for a gift. You could do these for any occasion. Thanks for sharing!

  5. Happy (almost) Birthday to Rowan! I love this idea! It is so very sweet. I have been trying to think of ways to use some of my photos - these would make great little keepsakes . . . I could go backwards and then keep going with it.

  6. We do this for Mother's Day and send it to the grandmas :) They enjoy getting a couple pics of each of the kids -- and the parents, too -- that they can easily keep. Great idea!

  8. Lisa, love this idea! I was going to ask how you printed such a long item (what paper?) but then saw you taped them together. I can't even tell it's taped!
